This is the aircraft Derek Piggott did the UK height record in and hail damaged the glider O0

No - that was a Slingsby T21 and this one wasn't made by Slingsbys.

From Wikipedia...
"Derek Piggott is perhaps best known as a gliding instructor. In addition he had success as a competition glider pilot winning three regional championships, was the UK National aerobatic glider champion in 1961 and set several national gliding records including the single-seat altitude record of over 25,000 feet in an active thunderstorm in a Slingsby Skylark."

I was thinking of his flight in the open cockpit T21 when he was an ATC instructor and took a  VERY cold pupil up to a great height (without oxygen either) during the Championships at Camphill in Derbyshire to establish a new two seater height record.

So we were both right  O0     The photo is not a Slingsby built glider though !.

The black prop thing is, I think, a Velie Monocoupe, probably the model 90
but I'm just guessing ;D

I like the thread - very challenging, but feel bad cos I don't have any to fire in return

Close Andrewh.. but close enough.
"Velie Monocoupe Model 70...one of the first planes ever built for private fliers. Velie Monocoupes were built from 1927-1929"
I have a plan for a 1/4 scale one... powered by a OS 26FS  :D

EEEEugh, a wetmotor!

I love Diesels (and the fuel), but have given up with wetmotors.  Note to self - must sell them

Sorry about the model number!

Just Guessing, as always.
My guess is a Verhees Engineering Delta registered F-PDHV seen at the PFA rally at Kemble

It looks a little too shourt-coupled for me!

It's a green fighter. Fitted with a wind turbine to improve fuel consumption.  ;)

'Brave pilots' eh! Remember the old pilots motto.... 'There are old pilots and bold pilots but, there are no old bold pilots'!
That little aluminium delta looks very scary, :D it certainly took a brave and bold pilot to test fly that one for the first time but fly, it cetainly does.
