OOPs missed a D off Delta Dagger..........Never mind, try this un!! Strange to say this is one of my all-time favorites, the aircraft is still in exsistance at Pensacola naval base in Florida, it used to be outside but may have been moved into the museum by now, perhaps one of our American friends can let me know its fate..... Its one of the two Pogo fighters (actually 3 if we include the jet)

I can never remember which is which, and they look superficially similar

Convair XFY-1 - now I gottit

Brave man to do this - needs a rubber neck and massive er er er determination

Great stuff Andrew, the other aircraft was by lockheed (I found a drawing for it). The jet was made by Ryan, I think it was called the Vertijet or something like that.. O0......Smudge

I guess it must be the Arc-En-Ciel or Couzinet 70. It was the rainbow link that gave it away  :D.........Have a look at this one, is it a boat or is it a plane??.....Smudge

hi there . That is a russian Ekranoplan orlyonok (s-26) on a run out of the navel base on kaspiysk. This photo was taken after the break up of the USSR as she as the russian navy flag on her fin and not the hammer and sical of the USSR. Great bit of kit.

Right, Smudge - its the Couzinet Arc-en-Ciel.
The model no. is more of a challenge since the model 70 got changed several times and rebuilt radically at least once.  The picture of the model shows it with the Hispano engines, so my guess is that the pic shows the  model 71 or 72 flying banana (same plane as the model 70, but they changed the fuselage, wings and tail)

I see we're in ground effect at the present - how about this?

It still there at the bottom. It sunk in 1980 due to pilot error. He put in to much pitch at take off ,she started rising steeply. He throttled back abruptly and applied the elevator. She started to bank and hit the water and sank. All the crew got out unhurt.Shame end of a ledgened .

Hmmmm - thats quite a challenge!

Dome head rivets - puts it probably in the 30s or 40s
The thing to the RHS is even more interesting - and must contain the answer, If I could figure out what is going on
The Thing may well be a door, and the silver rectangular features some sort of latch or locator

I'm waffling to hide the fact I don't know - yet

BFO - its a plane modified for display, and the silver things are clamps which hold a prespex sheet so's we can see inside.

Right so where is there a air museum with a dark coloured fus like this which FTFrankie might have visited?

The answer should be the work of only a few seconds of research

Dead right , Ghost, Goblin it is

I believe it also did the pilots heads in, too.
Flying right up to an aluminium cloud and slowing down in an egg with no great stability - you can get toothmarks on your heart!
