Arrow - I can see why you would think that. 
If Only I had a plan view  - it would show that the whole planform is blended and totally swoopy

certainlly turbo, and therein lay its demise :(

It's the McDonnell XP-67 Bat, Their first original design to get a production order. first flew January 6th 1944, top speed 405 mph...... :o.........Smudge

It wasn't an artists impression Arrow. The image Andrew posted is real.
The XP-67 Flew quite extensively during 1944 until the constant engine problems caused them to stop development, If I remember rightly the engines caught fire during a ground test and destroyed a significant wing portion.

If memory serves there may also be a mention of it in Chuck Yeager's autobiography.

It was a real picture, but had probably been "beiged" for some reason at the time.

Oh and by the way, a .46 is a bit poncy for it, I'd fit at least an Irvine .53
