What happened to TugCowboy's? Thought at first it might be a Tornado or Seafang, but Russian maybe?

And now for something completely different...

Don't be fooled by those fin stripes, Jan, and the undersurface is probably yellow.

Made by a firm better known for optical instruments and bearing the silliest name ever given to an aircraft.

Excellent choice! Its a Miles M.20

Sadly never given a chance to prove itself, if the Battle of Britain had been a year later I think this would have been the new "Hurricane" as it were.

Could you tell me if the Miles M20 had a folding u/c, it looks like it has wheel spats.

Sinjon,

Yes the M.20 had a fixed undercarriage. It was designed to be a very cheap, easy to fix and hardy fighter to replace the Hawker Hurricane.

It even had no hydraulic systems to keep costs down and to avoid problems caused by a hit hydraulic reservoir.

She was found to be to slow and she was 800 - 1000 Kg more heavier as the Bf 109 or Spitfire.

You were very close, swordfish. It's actually the RS1, known for unfathomable reasons as the Snargasher.

The M20 wasn't the only stopgap fighter proposed in 1940. Some Miles Master trainers were actually converted with six machine guns, but never used in combat.

Rick,

True, Oh King!  it was never going to be a fireball with 800 HP, a hydraulic turret and full naval gubbins fitted.

Didn't know about the rise-and-fall

Hows about this?
There is additional glory and points for "what happened next" and why is the prop "bent"

Focal Plane shutter? Shutter passes sideways and gives a bent effect to fast objects.
