« on: August 13, 2006, 03:08:37 am »

G'Day fellow modellers,
I have seen the new Mtroniks Brushless Motors & Speed Controller Combo in another magazine.....has anyone tried these out in boats?  If so are they worth considering for MTB's or Chris Crafts etc.....what sort of  current draw do they pull?

Corrado.

Brushless motors offer higher efficiency and higher power to weight ratios than brushed motors - at a higher price. These factors may not be so important for an MTB type craft. Also remember than a standard brushless set up does not normally provide a reverse capability. For the type of boat you are looking at you may be better off with the lower revving higher torque outrunner type brushless motor which I don't think Mtroniks do.
