Just found this super super detailed model tug on the web, this is the most detailed tug i have ever seen! Just had to show you chaps. Looking at the lettering, i would say it may be Russain, but i could be wrong.

Does anyone know where i might be able to find the type of rubber deck matting this modeler has used? It really sets the model off.

Great looking model, isn't it!  That rubber matting might be conveyor belting.  I remember buying some years ago to use as bench protection at work, it was very finely ribbed.  Can't remember where I got it unfortunately!

Good hunting!

Voyager,
You might be suprised at where you can find nice things to use in modeling!  No idea as to the 'size' of the matting, but looks remarkably simular to some I've seen in a local bar (commonly called a 'beer-joint' around here), they usually set 'tip' jars, pretzel bowls, etc. on them, the matting I mean.
Good luck.

WOW! I'm just about to start a SMit Nederland, hope it turns out as good as that. Try mouse mats for the deck matting, the rubberised undersides might be ok.

our local model railway centre  :o does a range of platicard sheets that carry patterns like this, especiaslly useful is the chequerplate stuf, which is paper thin and looks excellent.  They also do corrugated roofing sheet, and stuff that imitates the steel cladding on newer buildings - ideal for work barges with deck houses and portacabin type structures.

I can only assume that the site is no longer running! I did copy the pictures onto my computer, but my computer has crashed and i'm sure i no longer have them??? I could well have them on a disc, but my "C" drive has packed up so i can't view them! I should be getting a new computer at the end of this month, if i find the pictures then i'll send them to who ever needs them.
