Hello Dan,

HFM Marine kits make one (smaller scale than the "Aziz") which can be made up as one of three variants I believe. In fact there's one for sale on Ebay right now; see link below:

All the best

The HFM kit retails for less than £70 (several shops supply the HFM range).

hi dan with a budget of £250 you can go a long way on Ebay. I have seen several bargins .And then there the boats that get 0 bid and get relisted and still get 0 bids. Keep a regular eye and you will find some thing nice. I know you said you dont want aziz but there was one on there for £200 never sold was relisted and sold for £147 see link bargin.

The Aziz on Ebay sold for £147. ......  :o

The total cost of mine including the kit and all the extras and the labour time must exceed £700 by now  ::)

Once they are built, they do not hold much value.  SWMBO thinks I'm mad, but is still pleased I'm out of her way all day. !!

Hi there Dan!
If you are a little short on money, the HFM-kit is great. You make it into what ever you like, I made a Maersk vessel. You have to make all the detailing yourself as nothing is included in the kit. Other than that I like the Salvirile from Tian Jie, looks super to me.

Dan, have you ever thought of building from a Plan; as there's plenty of choice of plans available - ranging from easy ..... up to ..... pretty difficult; with a budget of 250 quid - you could build a good model with that from a plan.   Some plans; I believe; are available from Hobbies (Old Model boats service) there are either fibre glass/styrene hulls available to go along with the plans.

just as good as any kit.

Hi boatmadman,

Im fairly new to this boat building thing.

I bought the wimpey seahunter from models by design http://www.modelsbydesign.co.uk/model_boats.aspx.  The hull comes with a plan and a material pack consisting of several sheets of plasticard and some strips of plasticard all for around £120.  Highly recommended and they have a few vessels you may be interested in.

There is also kingston mouldings and they have a few vessels which you may also like.

Try this link  O0 My Hobbies store which deals with the plans and hulls is becoming more difficult to find stuff and more complicated to use - or is it me? being an awkward sod
