Mini tugtowing
« on: July 24, 2008, 10:57:59 pm »

Did some tugtowing for the first time, now I understand how fun you guys and girls must have at your competitions. But this was a tiny tow with a tiny tugboat based on the Revell kit of Lucky IX?? As I made it into a Moran tug I call her Lucky Moran! Isn't that a little bit funny or am I totally lost in translation here? Anyway, here are some pics of here tow.

I agree with Ghost, it does look good, congrat's. now you're hooked (or towed !!!!) Keep going, now all you need is a chum with another tow on the stern-----oh then the fun really begins

Thanks! Yeah, I better get my friend a smaller tug because I reckon the Happy Hunter he is building might be a bit oversized!!!

The new ETV Waker kit may also be worth considering...

Hi Hama, nice photo's.

I just received my box with the Lucky today (she sure is Small!)and am looking forward to building it.
Being bitten by the micromodelbug after reading about some Rc-controlled versions on several sites, i want more than to just glue it together.
I am planning to motorize it, 100% rc is one (several) step(s)  further, but i could use some information on the type of motor, gears etc, used.

The Deans Marine Site used to show how to strip down a servo and use the motor for propulsion and the electronics for speed control.
I used this system on a plastic kit once and it worked well.
I just cant remember how it was done, but it wasn't hard!!

Hello and thanks for the comments!
I think I have described this little boat and its propulsion in the thread "Revell Lucky tug" in the Working boats section. Even talk a little about stripping a servo I think. Please let me know if I can be of any more assistance, I'll be happy to help if I can.
Cheers, Hama.
