Thanks for the Wood Turpentine 13 minute history Martin......must admit...... :o .... I was not aware that turpentine was originally harvested [like rubber gum] that way

Wonder how it is now chemically synthetically produced?

We did that in 18th century. Just being rebuilt, part of the Warwickshire ring.

I'd try to suppress laughter and jog on past the booth. A selection of glue lined 3:1 heatshrink is a better investment, I'd say.

If you have 2:1 ratio plain heatshrink then kill spare time with added hot glue chips or shavings into your experiments.

Making reliable butt splice joints and useless substandard parts is a subject in itself.

I have a pack of various sizes of solder seal wire connectors that do a much simpler version of this. Put the bared wire ends into the connector then add heat. The solder section melts and joins the wire and the rest shrinks onto the insulation. There is a glue section at each end that melts onto the wire sealing it.

This made me smile. Model jet boats in a flooded skate park.

It also mentions a link to a 3d printed model that looks like a Club 500 type boat.

I did a small build log on them, but can see that I didn't finalize it, I'll do that soon.

This is the best introduction to an 18th century sailing ship I have seen.
It is still a bit light on the details of the sails and masts and yards, but other than that, very detailed.

Quite an interesting hull design, loks like a longship hull although carvel planked instead of clinker. Some of the others had a more symetrical engine fit, one of them looked to have 2 engines each side. A simple way to convert  a sailing boat without having to mount a shaft through the hull. Interesting use of a steering oar instead of a rudder, mounted of course on the steerboard side. Wondering if those horizontal spars are to allow the mounting of a junk type sail.

Just spotted this.  Very clever, although I guess all the running gear didn't come from the microwave.  Anyone recognise his little spot welder, or is it a home brewed device?  Looks very handy for small scale fabrication.
