This is the QM docking at King George V dry dock in Southampton which unfortunately, along with many more in the UK, is not there any more.  I worked for the company that leased the dock from ABP and in more recent years we dry docked the QE II and a number of the P&O Cruise liners (amongst others) before it was closed in 2005.


If you google King George V Dry Dock (images) there are some great photos of the dock and the vessels.

I worked for Komatsu for 15 years there was never one in the UK had all the spec for this at one time , there was a RC D155 for working in hot "xxxxx"
Retired now but still miss working for Komatsu

Well Martin you do have to ask the question HOW? to both accidents! The Panama one in particular, the ship is handled by the 'mules' so why didn't they pay out cable on the nearside and wind it in on the far side? Think somebody's head should roll after that cockup.
