Here was a quick packing case I built to fit "Carry On Luggage" dimensions.

The airport cleared the boat both directions... but they confiscated my bottle of water and cola.  %)

I got a helicopter  box and altered that but it was a lot of work and I now need a few more bigger ones so will be making them myself from the material available to the public, it is prob not the cheapest way to do it BUT they are very strong and very light and when you have put a few years in to a boat i think worth it , it also protects your boats from dust and knocks at home and makes storing models a lot easyer , hear is where i am going to be buying my parts from, plus there is a company who will do them to order ,but a bit dear he normally does planes and model Helli cases.

That was the one that was set on the Discworld wasn't it and featured Kenneth Williams as Rincewind?    at least it should have been  :-)

Hi all, There is a guy on Ebay, Avforsale & he sells lots of used cases from what looks like bands & shows. The prices seem to be good too. In the days when I did AV  shows, I bought stuff from him , you might want to give him a look, In fact he has a lot of cases on right now I just checked, Mick B.

Mick,
The prices are good but the postage from US is prohibitive!

Hi Bob , I thought of that too after I had posted, they are very good cases though. They cost a fortune to have custom made new, just ask me. I have one for carrying projectors  & stand around. Can't quite remember the cost but $500.00 rings a bell.

I am about to design a boat transport case for a 1.3m 11kg warship that has lots of overhanging and fragile detail.
Searching Mayhem I found this relevant thread, but it is quite old and most of the photos no longer work.  ie:  Deleted from photo source accounts etc.

I would really appreciate any design / pictorial information to help me.  Due to size and weight I envisage a tough shallow bottom tray with a more lightweight cover box with toggle latches.  I also need to extract the ship from the transport base with a launching frame.

Should I have started a new topic for this?

I did read somewhere, about producing cases using fibreglass.
It is supposed to be easy and the cases are very light and strong.

Does anyone have any experience of this, or maybe would like to do a thread?

Alternatively, any FG specialists might consider this, bespoke case making, as a paid for service?
