Tug bow fenders
« on: August 26, 2008, 10:34:26 am »

I saw a photo recently of a Rope Bow fender that reminded of floor cleaning mop, My other half wishes to have a go at making them but for the life of me i can't find the pic again for her to work from.
Can anyone point me to them please?

Damien,

Looks like she is a talented lady. Does she have a range of fenders she sells, Please PM me if she does and doesn't mind posting them to England, I may well be interested.

Fenders. Absolutely essentila for Tugs etc. After allowing the kids to 'drive' my little tug at the Cambridge Boat Show yesterday I now need a new bow fender. The little darlings managed to split it in two. Daren't think of the damage that might have happened without the fender. On the brighter side it was about 8 years old.  O0

Hi Alex, She has only done 3 sets so far one for my Seaport tug plus 2 for ebay the first set on ebay way a non payer will be re-listed
soon.
She will make to order as there are so many different scales she uses pre shrunk Crochet cotton and they are stuffed with fibre fill the The set in the pic is the same size as my Seaport set the sizes are.

Bow fender is 145mm long tapered x  19mm Dia.

Side fenders are 30mm long x 17mm Dia

Jo crochet's clothes for an orphans charity and does these to pay for materials, she also has bad arthritis so i had to modify a crochet hook for her, pic below.

Thats brilliant stuff Damien, love the modified needle!

I'm after a good set for my Seaport at some point over the next few months so if any more the size of yours come up I'd love the chance to buy them. More than happy to make an extra donation to help with the materials for her charity work.

All the best,

Alex

I found the pic i was looking for of these "floor mop" looking Bow fender, not a really good pic,

but Jo was inspired and 3 hours later gave me this beauty, on the bow of my seaport.

I may keep this one as my set for my seaport sold on ebay to a modeller in Hong Kong today.
