Probably because 4 recargebels are only 4.8 volts and 4 dry cells are 6 volt

There maybe an issue with high currents from rechargeables if the motors stall......  :-\

In its original toy application it might well be that because the controls are just switches worked by a rocker, it is conceivable that under fault conditions you could wind up with both forward and reverse demanded at the same time, resulting in a full short.  As Martin has suggested, this could result in severely embarrassed wiring, and a release of the magic smoke from somewhere.

Took the risk ,and tried it anyway . Seems to work. (For Now)

On one of my first Futaba transmitters it had a dummy cell which could be removed to allow the use of rechargebles , but this has no space, although it would be easier enough to add one.

Just don't like buying batteries when I have a million lying around the house.

Nice one, Roger. Hare today - gone tomorrow? I must stop relying on the spelling checker and read my posts through!
