20 mm Oerlikons gun rotation
« on: April 12, 2024, 09:03:03 pm »

Hi Crew looking at making the 20 mm Oerlikons turn/ rotate via a belt drive like a pulley and rubber band/belt  under the deck connecting the gun to a mirco servo so the 20 mm gun's rotate with the 40mm Bofors and the three Mk51 Gun Directors all at the same time together , I have looked at drive shafts and gears similar to diff gears on slot cars to rotate them as well ,has anyone else used or done this trying to get ideas as to what is the best system to deploy 1/24 scale so some room to Play with , fwd 20 mm is out board on superstructure on the LCS and the aft pair are on the aft deck so some wiggle room to play with any ideas much appreciated tassie48

Hi Crew found out the micro servos can operate the 20 mm Oerlikons as the same rotation as the Mk51 Gun Directors and the three 40mm bofors main deck direct drive to servo upper deck via a cam and push rod arm system got it working correctly tassie48

Tassie48,

I’ve used two micro servos linked by a “Y” lead to a servo morph to control a gun mount and a range finders. The morph also extends the servo throw to 180 dregs as well as you can adjust the speed of the servos.
