That's an interesting build David, what scale are you doing it on? I'm just about to embark on building a 1/96 container ship based on a Models By Design 8ft hull. I'm planning to have interchangeable deck sections so I can have a container ship, supertanker, LNG carrier and bulk carrier all based on the same hull. Should keep me busy for a while! Dave.  :-))

Hello Dave, mine is 1/96  aswell 8ft it comes out at, one set of cargo is enough of a challange for me but the containers will be able to come off so it can sail light ship or with carg
Im having brain blocks at the moment on how to build the uprights for the containers to  sit on down the ships side.

Heres the ship its based on

I have started the Lady Wooes.  This is a kit of many parts, of which I only have the hull and drawings.

As you can see it is a great looking hull, full of detail. (unlike the drawings !!!)  I am proceeding at the slowest pace that I ever have because of the discrepancies and differences with the measurements. There are no build instructions and everything is left up to the modeller how to approach it.  A challenge indeed.  %)

I've got as far as putting on the prop tubes and now working on the deck cabins as a separate project.

Graham

The Puffer kit (also Northlight) I was given on retirement in January is nowhere near finished. Only almost everything to do.

Oh, did I not mention the year? 2000!!! and, no, I have not built a steam launch in the meantime!!

Well done, looking forward to pictures of her on the water.

i still have a half built kingston mouldings puffer to build too , - got the precision controls fittings for it, and yet its sat on the shelf now for 3 years gathering dust, really must get on with it  O0

along with a 'steam' launch ( electric with smoke unit ) which is about 40% complete...

and now a big rib hull which i tihnk will make a great atlantic 75 or 85 type model  ( not even looked at a drawing for that yet !!!)- its going to have to go up the loft for a while until everything else is finnished  <:(

just not enought hours in the day.....

Hi Larry.

The Lady Wooes is by Mobile Marine Models. The details are all on their web site. You can always tell their hulls as they have a serial number buried in the Epoxy. Yes, it's a lovely hull and will shine through after my rubbish build.  %)

Cheers

Very nice, are you using moulds for the containers? That's one thing I'm not looking forward to doing. What uprights do you mean for them to sit on? Nice hull too, keep us posted on your build. I'm starting a build thread on mine, only started it this week though. Might do the supertanker deck first so can hopefully get it on the water relatively quickly. Think all those containers are going to be done over the long winter nights and days off! Dave.  :-))

Ye Dave im using moulds for the containers, I had to make a container at the right size for ship and then make a mould,(with a bit of help from the GURUS at GRMBC) and reproduce a few times. on my boat there is 400 doors, 400 backs, 100 tops and 80 sides to mould and then mount them on a ready made box, the worst part is getting them all the same thickness so they sit nice on the box.

I did most of the moulding on a two week trip at work so its just a case of sanding and sticking.

You could buy containers but the cost would be off the chart.

Now the uprights, on a container ship the containers come right to the ships side but there is space under the container for walking under so one edge of the container sits on a frame/upright on the ships side and the other edge sits on the hatch.

when i get annoyed with all of them i go on the web and she hides my wallet  {-) {-)

Halfway through building a Fiesta yacht, just received my laser cut parts for a Star 45 yacht, and a Seaport tug that's having something done to it, (not sure yet exactly what's 'going to be done' to it though).

Next on the board will be a Model Slipway Tamar FSB, (when it gets here that is >>:-() followed by, probably, a scratch built IOM 1 meter boat.
