Hi all, I'm building this at the moment:

It's the Aurora from the classic comic-strip album The shooting star (The adventures of Tintin).
In most of the Tintin books involving sea travel, Hergé was careful to obtain as much data concerning the ships involved in the adventure as possible. However, the Aurora was an entirely fictional vessel, and Hergé admitted later that it was probably unseaworthy. So the challenge was to make a seaworthy Aurora. I started this project (research and drawing plans included) 4 years ago, I hope to have it ready next summer.
Here you can see a build thread, it's in Dutch but the pics tell a lot.

Cheers, A!H.

Hi all, I'm building this at the moment:
Archibald - I grew up on Tintin (is it obvious?!) and have considered making the Aurora for a long time. Herge was fastidious when it came to researching objects from real life, and I had wondered whether there was an original vessel behind this one?

The build is fabulous - please keep it up and tell us more!

Hi there Mayhemers,
Just finished. It's not really a model but it is smallish. We have to show them boats early to keep the hobby alive.

Hello
I'm actually building one PT in r/c from Italeri, the Yamato from Nichimo 1/200 scale, the Yamato from Tamiya in 1/350, both for r/c, and making the sails for my Seawind, and some furniture to my workshop, some day I'll have all the stuff in the rigth place, :embarrassed:
Best wishes

Working on plans to build Anglian Sovereign - slow progress. I need to be more methodical rather than the butterfly approach I've had upto now.  :o

Martin what are you building???

To all who have commented on my model. Do not dispair, its not that good. I have seen better. Even the Richelieu will have some artistic lisence applied to it as my skill level in scratch building is not all the wonderful. Will substitute similar looking stock fittings for the ODD French one. For the un wiitting thought should look ok. I will start the build post soon.
Cheers,
Adrian.

3. A rebuild of a 40 year old "Waverider" cabin cruiser. My first build. Now nearly finished.

Roger in France.

I have owned and lost two Waveriders, one that was chucked out by my parents when I went to uni, some 30 odd years ago, and then the kit I found stuck at the back of a shelf years later was chucked out by my ex when I left. I've always fancied building another to try to hang on to. The model was my greatest dream when I was about 10 years old.  :)
