Just awaiting delivery of a very special sub kit from the US of A...a Permit class attack boat from Matt Thor. It's having a special module designed and built by Ron Perrott, and I'm going to build it as the USS Barb, SSN596.

Hi all, I am finally finishing off my RTTL 2749 which I started in 1963/4 and have had it on the water in an unfinished state but have made the tidying up and completion of it my first retirement project.  I then intend (probably comencing next month) tackling my Mobile Marine Portgath.  In the latter I had all the radio and control equipment neatly in the rear part of the boat but am seriously considering moving it all up forward as I am cramped for space under the rear deck.  Any comments on this from other Portgath people?  Cheers

Larry,

The Goose is built from a set of plans sold here:

http://modelplans.steamboats.org/

Very, very highly recommended (no finanacial ties here, just a happy customer). If you choose to build the Wild Goose, be sure and buy not only the basic plan set, but also the Ward Engineering shipyard drawings as well.

There are plan sets listed on the site for several other interesting ships as well.

Almost completed my HMS Intrepid (1943) conversion of a Deans Marine D Class Destroyer.  A few final fittings such as stanchions, bollards and ships boat to go.

I've started a build blog on mayhem, suprisingly, although this boat has a popular following, there seems to be very little interest, I was hoping to generate a good level of converson, particularly as the setup is quite unique, with ideas etc going back and forth, So far very little, if anybody wants to look in, please do  :-)) :-))

red181,
The part of the build that you are on now is the least controversial.
It is the basics of making the hull and superstructure.
I am sure the response will increase as the build progresses.

Currently back on with a 7 strake Whitby Coble.

Also have another 10 strake version on hold.

A table of offsets was developed and transferred into Freeship and then onto CAD.

I today have been assembling some formers on CAD, based on a table of offsets including strake angles.

Eventually the parts will be sent off for water jetting.

There will need to be 21 ribs installed, all with notching to accept the clinker planks. This will have to be done by hand, one by one as I don't have a 3D CAD model to work off.
