''Aquataur Racing Yachts'' Are they any good?
« on: May 24, 2006, 02:42:14 am »

Hya chaps, i have been looking at Aquataur racing yacht kits. Can anyone tell me if they are any good or not? What are they like to sail, and build? I currently own a Graupner Micro Magic and i have been very impressed with it, but i like the look of the above as it's a little different.

All advice welcome!

Many thanks in advance.

Unanswered threads are like ringing phones, even though you know you shouldn't answer because it's not for you....
I'd had a look at their website and was intrigued how the ballast dummy could move fast enough. No doubt experience helps and the boats do look different but I'd be worried about the servo reaction times and, even more by my reaction times :-[

From their video, it looks like it, though you can never be sure how many unsuccessful attempts were not recorded :o

Wasn't they reviewed in  one of the magazines within the last 12 months?

Oh...i must have missed that one! Dont suppose you remember what was said? I have seen it on eBay in kit form on a special price of ?99, but you have to buy the mast as it's not included in the kit, it's all rather tempting, but i dont want to end up buying a stinker!

I read a review in one of the mags. I am 99% sure it was Marine Modelling International. As far as I remember it was a favourable review. If you email MMI I am sure they will tell you which issue the review was in and you good borrow/buy a back issue.

No, sadly I didn't, I decided on the popular Graupner Micro Magic instead which turned out to be a fantastic and rewarding little boat.
