To get round the problem of having to plug in or out the wires for things like lights, radar, etc which are located in the super structure

Has any one thought of using 2 Rx's, 1 in the hull to control motors, steering servos etc and 1 in the super structure for the control of a 4 way switcher to switch lights and radar etc so they can lift the super structure off easily.

I would fit a power supply in the super structure just for the Rx, lights etc. Its a large tug with plenty of room

I have thought of putting in a 4 channel in the top, and a 8 channel in the hull, then have 2 matched crystals in them.

Its a F-14 Navy radio set so i can choose which channel does what.

The first 4 would be for the switcher and the last 4 of the 8, are you still with me  :-\, for the motors etc.

There are currently 23 lights which will work in goups independantly, a radar, a search light,(Blackpool have been in touch to use use it this yr in the lights)

Am I over complicating things here, its just I don't want wires trailing between hull and top.

Am I just MAD?? ???

Any advice would as always be greatfully received (oh! is that now 3 receivers)

Hello all, Mark are you mad? or is that Mad Mark     why not simply use a pair of computer serial or parallel port connectors to wire up the extras in the superstructure. Having seen it done it is very simple and alows for any amount of ancillaries to be worked off of the one receiver. It also allows a straight forward lift up and away of the superstructuree and as a bonus a positive locating point on the coaming .

Re Jim's suggetsion - attached is a pic of a serial connector in the front half of the UB16 hull. The other part is attached to a wander lead in the stern allowing the 2 halves to twist and separate.

Any chance of Jim or Andrew providing me with details/diagram of the procedure recommended to Mark1.I have  the same problem. I would be grateful for any advice on the subject.

you would have to use two  8 channel  recivers and an 8 ch tx use ch 1 2 3 4 on one and 5 6 7 8 on the other .or not use the first 4 channels on the 8 channel reciver. Peter

2 receivers are an expensive way to switch units in superstructure.
There are lots of different types of multiplug for various uses and loads.
For small loads the computer ribbon is hard to beat though!!
