Here's one I built earlier...many years ago. Just found the photos. Still have it and am about to restore her. She is a 1:6th scale model of a 31ft 1970s racing yacht (UFO 31) on which I used to race.
5'2" long and about 8' high on the stand. I got a friend to mould the hull for me and then scratch built everything else. 2 ch. radio control, with a worm screw and traveller for the sheets...I couldn't afford a proper winch servo in those days. My girlfriend sewed the sails for me, they even reef just as the real boat did.

Hi Windchaser,

Spotted a mention about the Sprinta in Marine Modelling International's 'Sail Free' column a couple of months ago. The Sprinta seems to be a semi-scale one design racing class that is popular in Germany. Length OA is 1200mm (48"). The manufacturer's website is www.ramoser.de

Cheers,

Mike

Mike
Thank you for the information. I was able to track down quite a bit of information on these very unique RC Sailing yachts. I am in communication Christian Ramoser, who has been very helpful in providing English translations of the information listed on their web site.
These boats are amazing sailors and beautifully detailed. Their boat is 1200mm long and by what I have seen is very sea worthy and fast!
They provided a number of pictures for their files, so I thought this would be a good place to share a few. From their comments, it seems they have not sold any boats here in the U.S.. I would like to see that come to pass, so we could get a new class established by the AMYA for these fine Racing Yachts.
They are not inexpensive, so anyone buying one, will have to be of means to be able to afford one. As I understand it they have made 55 boats to date, each numbered and registered. At the current exchange rates USD to Euros, these boats are likley to have a limited demand here in the U.S. I for one would love to have one.
Here are some pictures to temp your taste buds.
Enjoy
