Spare a thought for the retired couple in Tottington, a small village, nr Bolton, Lancashire, who invested in a £1,500 Domestic Wind Turbine.
An item from the Bury Times :- After two years of of negotiating planning procedures the turbine is now up and running. The blades are approx one metre diameter. The unit was finally due to be installed two weeks ago, but as the property is around 40 years old a full rewire was required.
The couple who aren't convinced it lives up to expectations said "it's whizzing round and generating a little bit of electricity. We don't know if we would have gone ahead, knowing what we know now, the whole thing has been a nightmare"
The couple advise anyone thinking of following in their footsteps to think carefully about their decision.
