Veron Police Launch - Help Needed
« on: October 23, 2008, 03:42:49 PM »

One of my current build projects is a scratch built copy of the 'Veron Police Launch' from the original plans. This was previously sold as a kit in the 1960's and 1970's.

The design does not show any 'spray rails' fitted along the hull chine line. Has anyone built one of these craft, and could advise me as to whether they are necessary. Every hard chine craft I have built, has had spray rails fitted, to create a 'clean spray'.

Thanks, Tony.

p.s. thanks to Reade Models for suppling the horns as fitted to the original Veron Kit.

Soory its not a very clear picture (you should have seen the size of the original) Looking at the pic it doesn't look like it had a spray rail, however if you look at the bow, it might be the chine line or a rail just above the white line.
So in answer to your question---hum jury still out, still I hope the pic is of some use :-))

Thanks for that. The photograph does appear to a rail fitted, even though this is not shown on the plans. So one will be fitted!!
As previous posting, I have never known a hard chine hull to have no spray rail.

I found the quote at the foot of the advertisement quite amusing - 'unsinkable construction' - they obviously haven't seen my model making. On a more serious note though the construction is a basic form of model double hull, divided into compartments by the bulkheads. The inner hull being a box which holds motors r/c etc. Very well thought out by Veron, considering the age.

Phil

Are you refering to a famous vessel that sunk almost 100 years ago, that was also unsinkable. They couldn't blame my model making then. Better not drift too far from the subject, within this post subject though.
