It was reported in the last couple of days on TV(Meridian or BBC Southeast ) that some miscreant has set fire and burnt to the ground the Sittingbourne Sailing Barge Museum in kent UK, gas bottles were found inside that were not there before the fire!.
Years and years of hard work by volunteers have gone up in smoke.

That is sad news, that was one of the very few if any barge building yards left in Kent, especially one associated with one of the main trades "Bricks". Like all old things generations to build but destroyed in minutes. Makes me very sad and angry, birching the miscreants would be letting them light.

Very sad news indeed, particularly if SB Cambria, which was being restored at the yard, has been destroyed too.

Cambria wasn't at the Dolphin yard, it's at Standard Quay, Faversham (and has been for a year).

There was only one barge there, a privately owned ironpot, which was being refurbished.

Very sad. I was only there a couple of months or so ago.

Thanks for that info Lance.   I'd not picked up on the fact that Cambria had moved.   Judging by the location shots on the Meridian report, the barge that is still tied there is OK.
