web site opening...help
« on: November 02, 2008, 09:33:54 pm »

I've just got a new computer and am busy putting my favourite programs etc on it.

Getting the 'tinternet up and running again I find every thing works fine, except opening the ebay.co.uk sign in page, it just hangs there blank.
ebay.com sign in  is OK as is everything else I've tried.
the progress line at the bottom gets about halfway.
It still works OK from the old machine, through the same wireless thingy.
It's Vista home premium..
Any ideas?????

Try downloading Flash and Shockwave:

(Watch out for the sneeky Yahoo/Google toolbar!)

Yes AVG. For home use the free version is all you need. It is superb.

I suspect that Vista is stopping all those things like ActiveX controls that Microsoft designed to make it easy for hackers to attack your machine :-) I thought from what I had heard/read that Vista had an XP compatibility option - that might work, otherwise check for Cookies being permitted.

I will not buy a new PC unless I can get XP - my daughter is just buying one from Dell which comes with XP loaded and a Vista upgrade disc. I don't think the Vista disc will get used %%  This is via the business site - not sure if its available to mere customers.

BTW, if you forget your Vista password I have the disc that will reset it! Tried and tested.

Hey Barrie, you'reTHE MAN !!!
It was the cookies not being allowed that stopped it.
