U33, I thaught a sweeper was an 18tonne rigid, LGV3, with LGV2 being for 6 and 8 wheelers, and LGV1 being anything that bends
I believe nowadays that a class 2 licence covers anything that isn't an artic vehicle, class 1 is a pure artic vehicle. A class 2 also covers you to drive a dog and pup up to 60' in length (I think...) somewhere about there anyway. DickyD...step in here?
I've had my class 1 HGV for nearly forty years now, but I don't drive the big stuff anymore. I used to drive heavy haulage, done the dog and pup bit ('orrible things to drive), and driven big rigids including the 26ton RCV's.
Dyson is a Johnston VT650R, the very first one off the production line at Dorking (the R stands for runway, he's a converted airport runway sweeper, sweeps at 30mph if needs be...and with a 747 coming in behind you, needs definately be!) on an Iveco 16 ton gross weight chassis. He weighs in at 12 tonnes empty, technically I can't carry much more than 4 tons, but he will put a good eight tons on (slightly overloaded....) The technical term for that is : sucks like a French docker's t**t....not that I'd know, of course!
Once seen, never forgotten...he's bright orange and has a plate in the windscreen saying "U-33". Look out for him....and me!
