Which glue?
« on: November 20, 2008, 10:24:44 pm »

Hi All
I'm using super glue for sticking of superstructure(plasticard/aly/card etc) BUT I'm finding that it tends to leave a white "smokey" residue if I stick clear plastic,or indeed anything with a shiny surface. Im sure you guys will know what the best stuff is to use to prevent the white marks?
   Thanx in advance..Rod

Polystyrene cement (in the liquid form with a brush) is the normally recommended for plasticard.
Avoid superglue for use with clear/shiny plastic - try R/C Modellers Glue from Deluxe Materials:

maninthestreet is right, dont use super glue. I use a Plastic weld for Styrene, ABS, etc,  But for clear try a Canopy glue as this does not leave any Smokey fumes. sonic.

You can remove most of the smokey residue from clear plastic with meths. It is also possible to buy super glue which will not cause this effect

If using a superglue type, use an odourless cyanoacrylate, they dont fog windows as they give off no vapour, for non superglue type a canopy glue is best.
