"Caroline" was moored off of Clacton, one Saturday , early evening, the DJ said that if anyone had nothing to do that evening, then drive to Clacton , Frinton and park on the Sea front, facing out to sea, As my wife were daft in those days, we drove nearly 70 miles to get there. On the way we noticed lots more cars heading in the same direction. We had , of course, Caroline on the car radio, and the DJ kept saying he could see cars arriving and to keep coming. we got there and finally found a place to park, It was a real party, everyone dancing and singing along. As it got to ten o'clock and nearly dark and his Show was coming to an end, the DJ, ( forgot his name, might have been Dave Cash) gave us a countdown and we all switched our headlights on. It was amazing, the whole coast lit up!! We stayed for a bit, then drove home. The Power of the Media, one casual comment and 100s of people responded. Was really good, Typical 60s , would never happen today, strangely there was no alchohol evident. Just good fun!1
