If anyone is curious, I used free trial of Quickie Architect to enlarge the drawings :)

Now if anyone can help me waterproof the paper and make the boat RC.. :)

Elbląska Koga

The cog plans are good - though the turn of the bilge ought be sharper. Looks like that fellah would roll like a bad 'un!

Dear Mr. Andy,

Please translate "turn of the bilge" into English for me.

Hi Weeds! The "turn of the bilge" - best illustrated:

The Bremen Cogge (the best preserved example) has a flatter floor and straighter sides, necessitating a tighter curve between the two, than is shown on the plan.

A flatter floor (and more box-like hull) would:

  • Lend itself to the cogge staying upright when it dried out on tidal flats.
  • Increase the volume in the hold.
  • Improve the righting moment when heeled.
  • Increase the resistance to rolling.

Regards,
