Richard Webb - RIP
« on: November 26, 2008, 07:27:53 am »

From the RC Sailing forum....

It is with a sad heart that I have to inform you of Richards death.

In 2000 Richard Web came up with the idea of the Footy class as a radio controlled yacht to sail on the pool at Weymouth Sailing Week.

He will be sadly missed by thoes who knew him far better than I and I feel sure that there will be many who want to say a few words about him
As a mark of respect I have lowered my usual fluttering St Andrew flag avatar for the rest of this week

Hi All,

Having known Ricky from the 1970's, when I settled in Southampton after leaving the RN, as I joined the Southampton club, this is sad news indeed. He was always an enthusiatic and talented boat modeller, and was an original member of the Eastleigh club which we set up. Although I moved to Dorset in the mid-eighties, I still saw Ricky at shows and the like, mainly Beale Park and Weymouth, but also at Eastleigh clubs events. He will be sadly missedd, my condolences to Pat and his family.

A nice bloke; an innovative modeller and a good customer. Ricky's passing is a sad loss to the hobby.

I met him a few times over the years and read all his well written articles. A respected modeller who brought a great deal to our hobby. He will indeed be missed.

Sad news indeed. I never met Richard, but I have built a couple of his designs, and read many of his articles in the modelling press. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
