Mallows bay wrecks
« on: December 08, 2008, 07:21:26 pm »

Again whilst hunting for something else, I came across this. These wrecks in the Potomac River are the remains of hundreds of wooden freighters built shortly after America entered the Great War. The idea was to get the US Army to Europe and supply it without disrupting the warship building programme. Sort of maritime equivalent of the Mosquito. Not a success.

Can anyone track down a photo or drawing of one of these ships?
