Arun Class Lifeboat
« on: November 15, 2008, 08:23:26 am »

Has anyone got any detailed information on the decals required for a 1/12 scale Arun - dimensions, requirements and so on ?

Also does anyone have any good closeup pictures - got most of the ones I can find around the Internet but need something a bit sharper

cheers
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Now that’s not as easy a question to answer as you would think. Which boat are you building and what date are you working to. The Arun Class was introduced in 1971 and the last one went out of service last year. In that time the livery was changed if you look at the pictures from the Warwick show you will see my Arun 52-11 (Image 185) in the livery as it was when it went into service.

Here are a couple of links to pictures of Arun's in the livery in the last few years before they went out of service.

The Livery would have been changed when the boats went in for a refit.
If you go for the early livery then you only need a flag, the Number and the name on each side of the wheelhouse.

Hope this helps

Hi Andrew,

The only Decals you will need for a boat of that date are the flags on the side above the name plate. As you are looking at 1980 you need the ones with the flag pole on. According to the information I have the flag without the flag pole was introduced in December 1984. If you can get a copy of the BECC catalogue they are listed in there as RNLI old.

Regards

Red stripe only (and OpNo. on side of superstructure, not on hull).
