Mega Yacht visits Portsmouth
« on: November 29, 2008, 05:59:42 pm »

Seen today at Gunwharf Quays, the slightly unfortunately named mega yacht SKAT. Owned by a former Microsoft software engineer.  Would make a nice stocking filler....

Colin, you've shown us the tender, where's the actual yacht?  :-)

Definately SKAT

Built in Bremen, Germany, SKAT is Danish for treasure.

Skat is also the danish word for tax, also a form of endearment like sweetheart, dear or honey.

Must admit looks like a painted out V to me. SKAV
But the 'boat' is called SKAT.

Yep, it does sound a bit s****y, doesn't it.
Somerset College of Arts & Technology are having similar problems.

Nice vessel, though. Merry Crimbo!

I agree Andy,

The Barge " Alice " looks much nicer than that Big Grey Lump.

Still quite a striking + distinctive design,  compared to most of the "outsize cabin cruiser" mega-yachts you see! With its grey paint + radar-covered lattice mast it looks more like a stealth warship than a yacht. The front half, at least - the aft section is rather odd, looks like a glass office block.
