Is the Anker Dubai-Star-5 carrying an anchor over the stern, as she looks very low or is it the angle of the picture

Hi Chingdevil,
Yes that is an anchor rigged for slipping, she must be an anchor handler. Some one was saying they wanted some Bugsier pics, hope these are okay.

Hi again, well here are some which end with numbers, but I suspect they not the one you want.

the balder and vidar vikings are some of my favourite tugs.  They are often docked in aberdeen harbour so i see them all the time.  I never knew they were icebreakers until recently though.  One day maybe i will model one of them :-)

That would be an awesome feature to build into a a model!  Do you have any photos showing the cranes?  Cant quite make them out on these ones.

Now to try and get some plans......

I am not to sure how many people have seen this one, she sits just across the water in Holland, not far from the Hook van Holland.

she was Built in 1916, and as far as i know the last working triple expantion steam engine in her, she was changed from coal to oil in the 1950's

can be visited, and if your lucky or phone prior, can have a trip on her.  :-))

I presume that foredeck on "Highland Prestige" is to shed heavy seas.

If so, they must expect to sail in very, heavy weather! Not for me thank you!

That style of bow seen on the highland prestige seems to be th norm on all new ships which operate in the north sea.  The "x bow" will do the same i expect.

The people who design/make these vessels are artists.
Why go to the Tate or places like that when you have true quality like these?
I envy you sea.nmariner!

Sea.Mariner

Do all the tugs you have shown on the forum service the offshore oil industry, or do they work in other areas?

Some excellent photos' there Dan,

I would love to have the skill and dexterity to make a scale replica of that one ! Guess the electrics would be quite complicated as well - do my eyes deceive me or are there really THREE bow thrusters and TWO stern thrusters.
........and as you say, windows and handrails galore %%
..........and then there's the cranes and Helideck.

OK then, maybe after I retire........hmmmm.
