Dan,

Remember "Never apologise"! You can post photos of any vessel which is as interesting as those you have shared with us.

You do realise, I hope, that you are responsible for inspiring many Mayhem Members to think about building some of the fascinating ships you photograph. So, enraged partners; protesting bank managers; frustrated builders all want your telephone number, please.

Excellent photos, please keep them coming.

Lovely potential build that pilot boat. Great uncluttered deck but plenty of interest in the superstructure and the mast etc.

Hello

Wouah, superb topic... All the ships I like  :o

Thank you Dan !

And Aberdeen, such a nice place, I was there last June for work and I 've the chance to take some pics of two of my favorite AHTS : the swedish yellow and black.

I've hundred of detail pics for those two ships, unfortunuatly I've no pics of the third Vidar

Just for fun and as Dan have the Xbow Bourbon Orca as signature pics : the model on which I'm working actually (1.82 meter - 60 kg when loaded ...)

One question Dan, could it be possible to receive large definition pics of the Pacific B... ships ? One of my friend is building this model.

Have a nice day

Where did you get the plans for the Orca?  This is next on my build list, Bourbon and Ulstein both wouldnt let me have a lines diagram, so I am currently working on my own design.

Hello

I've a correct plan of the Orca but I can't disperse it ... Sorry

Anyway my hull is not the Orca. It's a little bit larger one as I'm not interrested with the Orca itself (I don't lake green  ;D)

Have you seen this one ?

The hull is more scuptural than a drawing but not so bad.

Superb pics.
Considering the conditions these vessels work in...i.e. the weather...I am very surprised how clean, neat and tidy they all look. Hardly a sign of weathering anywhere. Is this down to good maintenence or high quality "paint"?
I have noticed that many "continental" fishing vessels coming into North Shields display a similar pristine appearance. Whereas the majority (not all) of the local boats look like rust-buckets even when quite new. Or is it a "mind set" between nations? BY.

Foger in France

Dear Foger in France!

There was a free plan in the February edition of Model Boats Magazine of the Sea Shephard by J. Pottinger.
I think it is to a scale of 1:50. but I have left the plan at work to get copied so I am not too sure.

Hi, I work offshore on a pipelay vessel. I have collected pictures of some of the supply vessels that have been involved with the projects i have worked on.

I can send full size pictures to anybody who requires them...

The vessels featured are:

Grampian Surveyor
Boulder
Normand Fliipper
Sea Lynx
Fairmount Summit

I hope these can be of some help

PBM made a kit called "forties shore", have you got the boat that the kit was based on at all?

thanks Davie, if i say so myself, thats not a bad looking vessel, actually quite attractive compared to the x-bow horiffics.

I may get some of malc reade's port holes and drill through into the sides of nord icelandia (not all the way, enough to make an indent into the hull) then put the port holes on her.

Hello

The Forties Shore was not this Sea Panther (as you see the picture shows a fully different ship !)

The former Forties Shore is actually named Amarco Leo under Panama flag

http://www.amarco-group.com/vesselspecs/index.htm

About Xbow, I was thinking like you Ghost but I've changed my mind, in fact it's like cars or everything you just need to accustom your eye.

When I was young I was a Volskwagen Golf I lover. Then the Golf mark II appeared and I was thinking, "the nb 1 still the best"  ... Then the mark III appeared and I was thinking "humm the nb 2 have a better look" ...  I don't know now  Mark IV or Mark V ? ... Anyway now when I see a old Golf Mark I in a street I don't understand why I was so negative with change, and it's worst if I have to drive it  ...

It's the same for boat...   Our eyes and our brain are used in a kind of conformity.

I'm a seaman and if tomorrow I have the choice between 28 days in winter in North Sea aboard of the Bourbon Orca or aboard of the Forties Shore, I don't have to think about the answer !
