S.M.B.C Perkasa Overhaul
« on: August 03, 2008, 12:57:06 pm »

I have been volunteered the task of re-doing the Stevenage Model Boat Club's Perkasa, which needs a complete overhaul.

It was made by a bloke for his son quite a while ago, and was given to SMBC and was used as a rescue boat, however, it wasn't very good as a rescue boat, as most are probably aware, it is hard to tell where it is in relation to the boat you want to rescue. It has been in the shed for the best part of ten years, and we decided today something should be done to it. I volunteered, so its now ready fro its' workover. The plumbing next to the boat was on the front, and was part of the rescue system.

Myself and Bernard have decide that it should be in the grey/green scheme a real perkasa was, because there never was an orange one!

The offending item is the battery that is now completely dead needs to be removed and replaced, but it has been sealed in with silicone

My appeal here is for reference photos of the perkasa, as google searching comes up with loads of models, a toilet, and a very scary muscly woman  :o ???

Righty then haven't posted here for a bit so here's some photos for you.

Added some lights for the Mayhemers Weekend at Llanberis, only superstructure lights so far but the deck lights are soon to come.

Dark photos are shaky because the only dark place at the time was my cupboard.

All 'rooms' have a single orange LED for a bit of a glow in the windows. Red LED on top of mast and and orange one in the top pointing aft in a little box. Box served no other purpose  so has light in it now.

I'm sure there were some fins for the torpedoes in there somewhere!

...Didn't find any

It's still missing a rather large bit on the back of the superstucture, but I'll make that before too much longer.
