Dear All,

Out of interest, do we have any lady members actively building models? - or are we only a male preserve?! Just curious.

Regards, Bernard

Umi is in the USA. She actually runs a model making business and makes superb architectural models (as well as other work). She is a boat builder par excellence and a great engineer. Above all she is generous with her advice and experience.

We also have a very active, youger, female Member. She and her Dad both build models and she has won prizes.

I am also aware of several females who contribute to the Forum but I know nothing of their building efforts.

Umi's work is superb and she is generous with her tips.
Cant say that i have seen other female members boats, but the time they let us "play" on them
should be credited.
Can someone build me a moan moan nag nag sound unit  {-)

Hi Polaris

There is an easy way to mail any member even if you only remember a bit of their name.

At the top of every page, next to your avatar there is a link for messages. Click it.

Then on the left hand column select New Message.

Then in the name box, well just next to it, there is a button 'Search Member' of somesuch.

This opens a dearch box. type in 'umi*' the star is for wildcards.
It then give you a list of members who fit that bill.

Click on one, then close the box.
You can now complete your message. :-))
And send it.

Mrs Walrus here. I do not claim to build model boats but I do enjoy sailing them and have proved to be helpful when sails ot fenders are needed for some of the models.

Mrs Walrus not only does a neat set of sails but she also does the other soft furnishuings such as awnings and seats as well as a pretty tidy sail storage bag.  Not to mention running rings around a lot of us in any sailing competition!!!!
