Removing Paint From Resin Figure
« on: December 17, 2008, 09:23:35 pm »

I have a resin figure that has been poorly painted. What is the best way of removing it without damaging the detail. I have used paint stripper on metal parts before & that works very well, but when I used it on resin once it melted the resin!!

if the figure isnt too small, you could try spraying over it in primer and then redo the paint job the way you want

Go to your local model shop and buy a tub of Modelstrip. It's a paint stripper designed for plastics so your resin should be safe! Do not try stripping paint with full strength ones, they will melt your figures.

The paint should come off if it is soaked in:

Simple Green cleaner
Brake fluid
Easy Off oven cleaner

I have used the simple green, and the oven cleaner to remove paint
from resin parts and there was no harm done to the parts.

nasil varnish gel works as well. If the paint is acrylic then soak overnight in nail varnish remover in a plastic bag.
