electric motors

have a 6/12volt motor a seahunter esc on 6 volt 4amp and  the motor shudders in reverse ok forward put a 12v 12 amp in ok  but this is to big for boat so put in a 12v 4amp motor runs for about 2 minutes then stops two seconds later ok  whats wrong  merry christmas regiment

Ok whats the specification of the motor and esc,it sounds as if the motor is to powerful for the esc and it is shutting down

hi  stravros thanks for reply it is a 25 amp esc and a 360 ? from howels models  about £3 i think  regiment :((

Your problems are probably not related to the motor.They sound like the familiar stuff where you are not operating the esc in the optimal way.The esc might not be a proper marine esc despite the name.

Switching on and off in two second intervals is probably down to a bec chip overheating.
That should sort itself with a 7.2 or 8.4 pack or by using a dedicated receiver pack.
Does the esc have an on/off switch or do instructions show a 2-battery arrangement?

A hyperlink to the esc or access to the instructions would let anyone quickly spot the other problem.There are quite a few possibilities there.
Connecing a bulb and voltage measurement might show it is only partial reverse.

Problem = BATTERY not charged or won't take a charge

thanks to all who replyed to my problem  my mate found that it was a broken wire and it would come loose under full load  thank goodness for brainy mates  happy new year to you all regiment  :-) :-)
