We at Homeport Models have a new structure  out of the Canadian Halifax Class Frigate.
We would like to thank a couple of people for there help with this project.
First off, the Men and Woman of the Canadian Navy For there help while docked in Boston Harbor.
Darren from http://www.hawk-graphics.com for his knowledge of this Class of Ships.
George from g.t.sitek for his outstanding work on the props and running gear.
So with that said lets get started.
This ship is being built using a Scale shipyard hull http://www.scaleshipyard.com/
Here is what our first production kit looks like.
In the first picture you can see how the board comes.
I forgot to take a picture of it complete.
In the second picture you can see the deck section lay ed out after a couple of coats of paint.
In the next installment we will start on the Bridge section.

hi there. you make some nice model . I have a few question.
1. in you 1 st photo you see a large sheet of plastic card that has the parts cut out . What process do you use.
2 in you 2nd post with photos you show the inside of the window but there seams to be foam and then there are to walls glued together with some sort of filling between them .I was interested in your building ideas but not sure how they work. I was wondering if you could explane .

I've been following your posts for the last few months with great interest - always high quality content. I will be waiting for the "installment" of your project.

Hi John,
The large card you see in the first picture is a product called gaterboard ,it is wood pulp plastic mix that has a foam core to it.
Very strong stuff , i have put up to 50 lbs on it before the glued joints let go.
The material is very easy to work with.
What we do is take a exacto knife and a piece of the board and measure the area that needs to cut out for gluing.
See in the first picture how the edge is cut back ,take a flat edge and scrape the foam core off or you can use some sand paper, I use my wife's nail files the work great for this part .
They are about a dollar apiece, come in three differant grits
We have company just North of Boston that uses a laser to cut the pieces out for us.
I will post a couple of pictures of the detail that we put it to the decks such as tie downs and placement of chocks and such.
After the pieces have some minor details added to them they are painted and made ready for assemble .
Here is what the Bridge should look like upside down.
As you can see in the next picture we have the base of the bridge.
The next shot is of the under side ,you can see the skeleton of the front section ,where we have built in the angles to make assemble easer for the modeler.

All righty then .
Got some progress done last night.
Lined up the Bridge with the 02 deck.
Every thing went together well.
As you can see in the photos.
Next on to the mid section of the ship where the smoke stacks are.

For the next part of the build .
We start on the stack section.
As you can see here the stack is built like a block .
Start gluing the sides together .
If you do this right the other side should line up perfectly.
