Hi all,
I have a pdf drawing of a footy yacht. It is drawn on legal size paper 8.5"x14".
my printer will only take A4 paper and I cant get any Legal paper.
I have autocad, but how can I convert the drawing so I can print on A4 paper.

I have tried taping two pages together and the printer (samsung laser) regects it as paper size wrong.

Does it have to be printed from autocad?
I can do just about anything onto A4 on two different Samsung Lasers from Acrobat which brings up a properties dialog.

I dont seem to be able to use acrobat to split the pages, but I only have the free download.
what acrobat have you.
To answer your question, No anything will do.

I actually just use adobe reader 8,updated.
PDF limits what you can do with a doc although.That is the whole point,I think.
So long as you can call up a print properties dialog to reduce margins,rotate,poster print you are home and dry.
I'm sorry I can't be more help but I'm certain it can be done.

On looking at it again I think you are stuffed and can only scale pdf's from my prog.I think it is pdf and not autocad which is the problem.
I think I have seen references to freeware to hack into pdf files but I don't know if that is relevant
It seems logical because limiting what you can do is the attraction of publishing in pdf.
Try the 3.8 download.

I have just downloaded acrobat 9.0. it still doesnt print the right size. It will be easier to get to legal paper than to print on to A4

I had no problem with sellotaped paper.
I just chose select paper size by pdf file and switched off page scaling at the print dialog.

Heres what i do.  I have attached a picture to help explain.  It shouldnt matter what size of paper the pdf is drawn on.  If you select the size of paper you need to print to in your printer properties then switch page scaling to none like is shown in my picture it should work.  This is what i do when i want to print off a4/a3 sized portions of A0 drawings

Hi Garabaldy,
Thats what I do but I can not get both ends of the page if you see what I mean. I really want to zoom a box and print 100% the view so I get it in two pages. I will try again with selotape but then printer errors as the paper is to big. max paper size is 316 x 356 mm.

Garabaldy has illustrated what I said in words.
Turn off zoom so that it prints out at 100% but open the properties dialog to change the paper size.

Did you know that Model Boat Magazine did a free footy yacht plan with instructions a few months ago?  I can't remember the issue but I bet someone has a copy they don't want.

Hi,

Yes Ricky Webb did a scale footy plan (which I have), but I prefer the racing yacht look over the scale look.

Basically I want a yacht that I can sail on our clubs portable pool (24 x 28 ft).
When we go to shows it seems that the public always ask about the boats that either dont work (static) or physically dont work on the pool.
so we at Northampton model boat club are going to build a fleet of about half a dozen boats and have a short race when we have the pool out.

Hi All,
Is it just me or Murphy again?
Letter size is 8.5"x11" - not 14" ( some of the Cobra pages have been lengthened so they can be printed on roll feed printers of letter width)
A4 size is 8.27"x11.69"
if printing - set printer to "NO scaling" and it will print letter pdf documents onto A4 paper - at the correct size. (dont use "select page size by pdf" or it will auto scale to fit.) Fiddle with rotation and centering and you should get both ends. (I print these style of "long sheets) to an A3 printer so no need to trim and tape)
I have the Cobra pdf plans (as downloaded) and they print no problem using Adobe, or Adobe reader, to A4 paper.
Trying to use Autocad is a no-no as Autocad can do strange things to non-autocad files (I use Autocad as part of my job).
This works for me on Lexmark, Canon and Epsom inkjets at home and a number of Laser machines at work.

Robin,you should have given a shout out to a lawyer with a Samsung printer.
They are awful nitpickers but they read and read again.
