Hmmmm !! thanks for the idea. No Nettos down here in Wales, but will be looking around. Will need covers on the back and sides to keep the wind out.

Further to my mentioning an Hotel, I have been asked which one I used last time.

It is called 'The Comfort Hotel Royal' and it's located in the centre of Kettering. Here is their Web site ...

http://www.activehotels.com/hotel/brochure/en/218698?subid=PPCGH1hn218698en

The rooms are from £45, but there are only £50 ones left. I thought I might go up on the Friday night, so as to be sure of getting to the lake before dinner time. It is after all. 1.5 miles away.  %) and I shall probably need help getting the Tent up before the crowds decend on us.

Andy

Phone up Wicksteed and book the nights you are staying, I first got a "we do not know what you are talking about" from them but have since booked for Friday & Saturday @ £12.00 a night, sorted :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

The camp site is literally 5 minute walk from the lake, its a stagger after the sailing ;) ;) ;) ;)
Bring your stove for breakfast and food for breakfast, can't wait bacon rolls in the rain, smashing

A couple of scale boats, one on 27meg the other on 40meg (if it's finished)

Found a  B&B about 10 minutes walk away for Saturday night at £37. Hawthorn House Private Hotel - looks OK and means I won't have to worry about driving back Saturday evening.

Forget it, dude. We took one like this last year and it nearly launched Liz to 1000 ft! We eventually had to give up trying to put the thing up in that wicked Wicksteed wind.
Suit yourself, but don't say afterwards that you weren't warned!

Right then, Had a meeting with the Wicksteed club on Monday - All Systems Go!

Need a couple of volunteers to help with frequency control please.
(Doesn't have to be all day, any short stint will be helpful.)

Has anyone got a large Tug Tow that they could bring?

Also, has anyone got a set of towing barges they could bring please?

Of to pick up a ebay engine for my springer tonight. Theres an out side chance it will be running for Wicksteed.
Would love to stay on Saturday night but her indoors wants me to do loads of diy over the rest of that weekend, so I'm out of luck. Still she ain't going to stop me going ALL WEEKEND to Llanberis.

You know what happened sunday Bill, you were there.... I though alzheimers was for people older than yourself...

The big red hydro thing that flapped a bit in the breeze? Yup, thats the one ;) ;) {-)

Is this the one I found? Better than the one you've got , the starting procedure is pull starter, hit with hammer, pull starter...

It'll restrict the amount of lake can use, we will have to be careful anyway because it's a small lake...

I guess we'll just have to launch off it.

If I had opened all my mail before posting I would have seen that I do not need the voucher. I have a car park pass which I need to show everytime I enter the park :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))

Another change of plan

I've been advised about the unsuitabiltiy of this place, so have cancelled my booking. It's back to the Comfort Royal Hotel for me. Can't afford two nights, so it's an early start on Saturday morning. Anyone else staying here?

Hope I make with more time to spare this time.   ok2

So far we have -
Colin at Hawthorn House
You at Comfort Royal
Me at Travelodge

The rest of the "roughy-toughies" all seem to be camping (so there'll be no shortage of places for a quick afternoon nap in the shade)  {-)

I assume we'll all be getting together on the Saturday evening for the night sail and the ceremonial lighting of the barbeques Dave's new table  %) {-)
