Goodwood Revival Meeting 2009
« on: December 20, 2008, 02:54:44 pm »

Having a breather from the excellent discussion that we are all having on judging and RC modelling, is any member planning on going to next September's Revival meeting for all transport classic or has anyone been befor.
I plan to go next september in my MG C and was wondering about bed and breakfast places down ther and such things.
Is it worth going and has anyone that has gone enjoyed or hated it.
I'd love to know please before I attempt the long drive in my old bird.
Cheers, neil.

I've been to the Festival of Speed at Goodwood and found the organisation and the quality of the exhibits to be EXCELLENT.

I've not been to the Revival meeting however, but my Brother has and has said that the 'quality' is the same as the Festival of Speed. My understanding is that if you enter a vehicle, its a good idea to enter in to the spirit of that era and try to dress as if you are back in the years your vehicle would of been in production.

If you do enter / go, can you put some pics up on here please...  :-))

thanks for the reply.
I don't think my car is good enough to enter anything.a bit like one of Top Gear's alfa romeos and I think it is too young as a 1968 model, but I love dressing up and will be going in some sort of garb to represent pre '68 so will post some shots for you.
I have looked forward to going since it began 10 years ago but never took the plunge.
Now I have my car to suit, my wife has told me to stop b****y moaning and get down there.
What more could I ask for?

Hi Neil

Very definatly worth going, different atmosphere to the FoS. I have taken both of my old rally cars in the past, 1962 Sunbeam Rapier works replica and 1959 fully modified A35. The Rapier was on one of the DVD's when the guy I had lent it to for the St Mary's Trophy race thumped it into a straw bale  <:( <:(

You can get into a car park usually for pre to mid sixties cars which is nearer the action and as Toesupwa says you have got to dress in period to have some fun, so hope you've got a flat cap and string back driving gloves  :-)) :-))

The revival meeting is excellent, though you must dress the part.
I haven't been for a number of years but if you want to book a hotel or bed and breakfast there are a number in the area but book up as soon as you can in the new year as alot of people book from one year to the next.

Seriously, Russ?
I have asked my brother today if he fancies going, but a) he would rather go to the Festival of Speed, ( which always clashes with my summer hols) and b) I don't think he fancies the long trip in an old bumpy MG.
If you fancy going, seriosly, there might be a seat going.
I'll know after the weekend.
Could pick you up on route, but I'll be setting off in the early hours of the Friday morning to get down there for early doors.

Sorry this is a bit  of a late reply.I went to the Festival Of Speed this year had  a great time Real motor racing and proper cars . We stayed at Chichester University about 15 mins drive from circuit, good room and breakfast also some private entrants stying so good atmosthere. Not many people  know  that university,s let out student rooms during the summer vacation, students have to remove belongins leaving rooms empty. I know this does not help you for the Revival meeting as students back, but ok for anyone going to Festival Of Speed    Dave
