Well Phil being Phil decided the other day to take his springer out to play complete with his newly built barge,so off he went batts fully charged waders in the boot just in case of an eventuality.
Now Phil was really looking forward to his days sail so off he went and after a drive of well over ran hour he arrived at the lake,oh goodie he says to himself no other cars here I will have the whole lake to myself.So off Phil wanders to have a look at they lake ,well you see there was a slight problem theere was no water in it {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-)

Moral of this tale Phil is give the local club a ring to see if the lake has been DRAINED or not

Stavros.......OH Phil I have not stopped laughing

Maybe we should refer to him in future as Steamboat Filled.
I'll bet there's at least one other member who's done the same thing, though.

Phil, don't worry, buddy - you're not on your own. A similar thing happened when I drove all the way to Tiverton model emporium. I got there to find it closed... because it was Sunday.

Well that will teach me to mention in passing  such woes to Stavros, the thing is, I did the thing that we all do when the car breaks down, just stare under the bonnet as if by will power the thing will start. Well I did the same thing at the pond, I stared at, walked around it, stared some more, tried to callculate if the 3 frozen inches in the centre were enough for run--they weren't. So do I fit wheels to my springer, or wait for the nice people to fill the nice pond at Hove  {:-{
Or take by blowlamp up to Stevenage---------
