Author Topic: Scratch build Trident (Ohio Class) sub - Can't find bow or stern views.  (Read 2476 times)

Hello

I would like to scratch build a Trident sub - maybe 75:1 scale - and I have downloaded lots of photos, both model photos and navy photos. My problem is that all images are side and top views at various angles and I can't tell if the main hull is round or oval shape and I would like straight on stern and bow views, a cross section at  various  points along the hull would be even better. Does anyone know where I can find these images?

It looks like the hull is slightly oval shape, being higher than it's width.

Thanks

Len

Hi Len.

http://www.taubmansonline.com/

If you scroll down the page they do a plan set in 1/96th scale for $30+ P&P

An Ohio at that scale will be VERY large and cumbersome to lug about. They're chunky enough at 1/96

Ok ........thanks for the replies and I will check out those plans. I was thinking of the 1/75 scale because according to my calculations the length would be just under 8 feet, which would slide into my mini-van nicely.

Imagine carrying a small canoe with a person in it, and you're close to what this thing is going to be like to cart around.

If you proceed- and unless you're built like Geoff Capes- plan on dividing the boat into three discrete sections.
