A bit of history

Hi All, As I was born in the area around Gravesend (as it was known as then) I have been researching some of the history of the town. I have found that on the 'Discover Gravesham' website there is is some fascinating cine film by Sid Whittaker (father of an old school firend of mine) of activity on the Thames in the early 60's. For those interested in old tugs, Pilot launches etc it may be worth a look. Cheers Graham.

Eer bit before my time (I hope)  :embarrassed:

I still have rellies in good old Gravesend (Chalk) so I get to pass through on flying visits now and again.

Not sure if you have frequented the place much in the last years, most of the water front has now become residential. they tore down the best swimming pool in the area (because it was open air) and have ruined the park gardens IMO. the Ship and Lobster was my haunting ground as I could walk up the causeway when waitting for the next line job  :-))

used to escape to the end of the world over the ferry, some happy memories some sad

I would not go live there anymore though
