Sanding sealer and woodstains
« on: January 20, 2009, 10:25:09 am »

If I want to use sanding sealer do I stain the wood first, or will the sealer cause any discoloration?

Or do I sand to a high degree, then stain, then sanding sealer?

Or should I use a stained varnish after sanding sealer has been applied.

I dont use sanding sealer on stained timber, just varnish.

Stain timber before gluing  :-))

Once you have sealed the wood, varnish or sanding sealer you cannot stain it. You can use a coloured varish over the top but it won't look as good as staining.
