Greetings!
« on: February 02, 2009, 01:54:13 am »

To members, Martin, and all moderators:

What a superb forum for things model ship!

For me, lurking, watching and noting will likely be the order of the day,for some time,

as a retired gent who has build one plastic model care circa 1960, it will likely be some time before I can contribute..

fascinating reading, and much admiration for those who have the dedication ans the skill to involve themselves in this

hobby!

Best Regards,

Klink

Thanks Klink,

Glad you like the site.

There are lots of plastic models on here. If you felt like doing another one you could contribute in that way.
And there is always the Chit-Chat board where you can discuss most things.

Welcome aboard

Sir Mark,

Thank you so much for the response..

Looking to do a wood ship or boat model...

it does to a newbie seem quite terrifing.. after man long hours or looking about

it seems that kits as delivered, in general, are far from straight forward.. why thiis is?

dunno. but also does seem that many here have answers!

Thank you so much for the encoraging words!

Hi Klink

There are kits for all levels of builder.

There are kits just for beginners, and these are the best ones to start with.
Building one of these will teach you many things and will give you confidence.
You will also get lots of help on here. Don't be afraid to ask question, you will get lots of answers on here.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Hi Klink,

Welcome aboard from me, too. I can endorse what Mark says, you only have to ask, and someone will have an answer for you. Have a look through some of the posts concerning building, these may give you some ideas. I started building model boats about 5 years ago and learned a lot by trial and error. However, since joining Mayhem, my knowledge has increased rapidly, simply by asking questions of  modellers far more experienced than me.

Best wishes,

Peter.

Welcome Klink,

Don't forget that even the best expert had to start somewhere, and he did not have the advantage of this forum to help him through..

The Moderators celebrate by performing the Mayhem Klink at the lakeside...

Seriously (???), Klink, welcome to the madhouse. As others have said, this is the place to get answers - some of which may even prove useful!

Gentlemen, one and all:

Thank you so very much for the warm and kind welcome, most encouraging to know that expert help is freely available!

For now I shall begin with reading and studying, to build confidence and hopefully some measure of knowledge!  Seems to me

perhaps best to study more in the beginning  :-)

Thank you again, and I do feel most fortunate to have found Model Boat Mayhem!  O0

Cheers,

Klink
