The infamous Motorflote ( Motorflotte ) push tug...
« on: February 01, 2009, 03:05:56 pm »

Way way back, either Model Boats or Marine Modelling did a free plan of a pusher tug...basically a box with a tall(ish)superstructure on top. I can remember it 'cos I built a double sized one...can any of you guys tell me which issue of which mag it appeared in please?

Even better...has anybody got a copy of the magazine or even the plan I could beg/buy/borrow/steal? All your expenses refunded naturally...

Think someone should arm a springer with depth charges and go U33 hunting <*<

Ok, good news is I have found the magazine ,  the " WATERBORNE DIESEL SHUNTER" Free 16 page construction pull-out, here lies the bad news ..It has been pulled out!! and I do not have it.. Sorry

On the first page there is a reference to David Metcalf's Motorflote Diesel push tug" was the designer..

Thanks to you guys I have the plans and build sheets for the Motorflote en route, the stores at work donated me a sheet of 1/8th ply ( %)) and all the other bits and bobs I either have or have the materials needed to build them....

So...has anybody else ever built one of these weird things? Mine was great fun to operate, it had a mind of it's own as to where it went though, but it would push the side of house out if needs be. Just wondering if the Mk 11 will be alone...or are there any more around?

And no Martin...it's NOT a swing springer!!   ;D

I am halfway through building one and and although it is my own design, it is very similar to the one in the photo.   I am using a Graupner schottel drive as propulsion and 2.4 GHz for control.   Pete M
