Correct me if I'm wrong here, gentlemen, but I'm sure I've seen a pic somewhere of a small push tug similar to a Motorflote with a hatch in the roof, similar to an escape hatch or even a sun roof type of thing. Any ideas anybody? Or am I on the wrong planet here?

Well, right or not, George will be having a hatch above his head.

I'm awful sorry you don't like my choice of model...I'll ask Martin or Ken to pull the whole topic and that'll be it, you'll not have to read it again.

Built for a purpose I guess.... and and very cheaply I'd wager!

Hi Rich,

Keep the article going.

As I was taught in photography, if you like a picture good. If other people like it that's a bonus.

A very good model boat builder once said to me that he did not like my boats because the have little detail on them.

I replied when the boat is away from the bank the detail is not seen so why bother!

If you type into Google Images Truckable Tugs you will see some that are uglier than the Motorflot.

Regards

Thought we were boat modellers. O0 O0
If you wish to comment favourably or constructively then do so.
If you don't like a model then keep your thoughts to yourselves please.
Anyway what's not to like about this 'Infamous Motorflote' at work?

I have this weird obsession with the Motorflote, don't know why, but I just do. There's loads of push tugs out there, most of them a damn sight better looking, but there's just something about them that I like.

I'll keep the posts coming then if you'd like me to...won't be much to post today, as I want to get some paint on the hull.

Thank you all for the support. I appreciate it.

I just had a minor heart attack when you were asking for it to be pulled! I have recently got back to boats and reallly recently.discovered the push tugs, starting on my springer soon, although I am kinda tempted by this too now  :o

Where did you get the plans please? I shall add it to the 'to build' list.

Please, please keep the build log going or I shall have to set the motorfloat police on you, for failure of services to motor floats  :police:  ok2

Oh no...not the Motorflote police! I shall obey, oh masterful one... %)

I bought the magazine from eBay (December 1985) with the build article and plans in it, Andy at Models By Design made me a kit in styrene, all cnc cut. He'll sell you a kit if you want one...£30 plus postage (I think Debbie said post was a tenner, but don't quote me on that) If you build it to the plan, you could have it on the water in a weekend, but I sort of got carried away with mine, and I'm adding all sorts of working bits to it.

Not much done today, the paint didn't arrive but the ladyfriend did, so I occupied myself with fitting the roof lights, making the back boards, and trial fitting the horns whilst she was snoozing on the sofa.
