Robbe - Lader 5 Mains Charger #8308
« on: September 27, 2006, 04:23:03 pm »

Hi Folks..

Just on this matter of charging 6v SLA batteries.  Will the above charger charge 6V 7.5Ah batteries okay? Its says 2-12 volts Lead Acid but I just need someone to confirm.

Battery charging scares the dung out of me but I want to master it.  Had a nasty experience with a Rally Car battery.

The specs for this charger are :

Specification:
Input: 230 Volts, 50 Hz, Euro-plug
Output 1: 60 mA, 4 - 8 NC
Output 2: 60 mA, 4 - 8 NC
Output 3: 140 mA, 4 - 8 NC
Output 4: 180 mA, 4 - 8 NC
Output 5: 500 mA, 4 - 10 NC
or 2 - 12 Volt lead-acid battery (max. 10 Ah)
Total charge current max.:Žapprox. 700 mA

I've always held the view that SLA's should be charged at a constant voltage, so I use a dedicated SLA charger from Maplins. I also have a Robbe Lader 5 - had it for years and it's a smashing piece of kit. One thing you must remember is NOT to use any other outputs while you are charging anything from the 500 mA sockets.
BTW Have you painted that Shamrock yet?

Shsssssss!!  Shaddup..  Do you want everyone know know what a lazy badger I've been!!!

Heh.. heh!!

Oh Gawd. NO!! it's sitting in the corner of the workbench here gathering a bit of dust.  I've been back and forward to it adding bits and pieces but to be honest, the good lord didn't make enough hours in the day.

I know - I known ..  Get the finger out.  I hope to get it finished in the not too distant future.  Part of my other problem is space.

I'll let you know how I get on. I might bring it into work and use the Technology department manufacturing room to do a bit of painting.  They have an extractor fan that should help.
